Insert the information in the form and the calculator will determine the water hardness.

What is the water hardness?

Water hardness is a parameter that determines the amount of dissolved minerals like magnesium and calcium in water. Water is classified as soft or hard based on the value of water hardness.

How to calculate water hardness?

To calculate water hardness you should use the following formula:
water hardness = 2.497 * calcium content + 4.118 * magnesium content

example: A water have a calcium content of 43 mg/L and magnesium content of 35 mg/L, calculate the water hardness?

Using the water hardness formula the answer will be:
water hardness = 2.497 * calcium content + 4.118 * magnesium content
water hardness = 2.497 * 43 + 4.118 * 35
water hardness = 251.5

Why use water hardness?

The water hardness is used in order to determine the amount of dissolved minerals like magnesium and calcium in water.
